At The Wine Country Inn we feel it is our job to help you (our guests) arrange your trip to meet your needs and desires. Though everything in the Napa Valley is quite casual and comfortable, it is often necessary to plan ahead to get into the winery or restaurant you really want to go to. This is our specialty! To help you narrow down the choices of the hundreds of fantastic wineries and dozens of nationally renowned restaurants, the Innkeeper has prepared a number of maps and listings of our recommendations, along with detailed (and hopefully up to date) information on hours of operation, reservations needed and the like. If you need any further assistance, please call us and we will be happy to help. ![]() |

Napa Valley Biking: The Napa Valley offers a wide variety of bicycling options. The Innkeeper and his wife Lorinda have done them all, the flats, mountain loops, off road and single tracking. The flat valley floor is perfect for either touring the wineries or for a long relatively flat ride. Hwy 29 is awfully busy and quite narrow in spots, therefore the Silverado Trail is really the preferred route. Since the valley is over 30 miles long, you can get some really good long rides in. As soon as you get off the valley floor you start climbing. The backroads to Angwin make a great mountain ride, it's only 10 miles round trip, but you climb 2500 feet and then get a great coasting ride home. For a great long road ride you can extend the Angwin ride down to the next valley of Pope Valley, wind through Chiles Valley and back to the Napa Valley. This is 35 miles of backroads with one great 4 mile stretch of down hill banked turns that is an absolute gas! For off road options there are three, Bothe State Park with 3 or 4 trails (one of them goes 7 miles back into the woods), Mount St. Helena which has one crisscrossing fire road that climbs to the top of the mountain and a quiet spot up in Angwin that has 25 miles of fire roads and single track. Check out St. Helena Cyclery for a great local bike shop with rentals. Visit these sites for tours: Getaway Adventures and Napa Valley Bike Tours |
Golf: Though the Innkeeper does not claim to be a golfer, he has played most of the courses in the area, and there are some wonderful courses. Silverado Country Club is probably the best know in the area since it hosts the Senior's Tour every Fall, but there are a number of newer courses that are just as nice. We have a full listing of the courses in the area so give us a call.

Obviously the biggest draw for the visitors to the Napa Valley is the wine and the beauty of the vineyards and wineries. There is so much to see, and nobody has time to see it all. The Wine Country Inn has personally prepared 8 specialized tour maps to help you narrow down and organize the choices. We will personally go over each map, review the options and then call to make the appointments if they are needed. But our 25 years of experience is not limited to the maps, so if you have a specific little known wine you tried one day but can't remember all the details, let us try to help you find it - we love a challenge. Here are some links to wineries we feel are very special:
